The ProCore Edge is specifically designed for the conventional opportunity and fast charge sector. The value-oriented charger can free up warehouse space and reduce demands on personnel, Webasto Charging Systems said. Designed to be affordable, it has a low upfront costs to allow for maximum return on the initial investment, while providing the benefits of a smart charging system that the company said can improve the performance and efficiency of electric forklift fleets.

“Material handling operators will notice the intelligent smart controls, universal control board and proprietary charge algorithms that will optimize the performances of lead acid and lithium batteries,” said Christina Di Sano, director of sales, Webasto Charging Systems.

The intelligent charging system delivers multi-voltage flexibility (24V to 96V) and is easily adaptable to battery chemistry. Additional features include Reduce Arc Technology with anti-arc option and high-frequency modular power stage. A modular design allows for scalability. The system is available in three-, five- and 10-bay options.

Communication with the wireless Battery Monitoring Identification Devices (BMID) provides real-time battery data to ensure each battery is properly and safely charged. In addition, ProCore Edge uses the same app as the original ProCore, enabling users to program and download data from a smartphone running iOS or Android to set up new units remotely, troubleshoot and make changes to the fleet. No special tools are required to install or service and check the state of charge of each battery or start/stop a charge session from a phone.
