Kaitek Flash Battery Partners In Battery Project

13 January 2020

Italy-based Kaitek Flash Battery will be one of 17 European partners involved in joint research and innovation projects and initial industrial production in the field of new generation lithium batteries, within an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) founded by the European Commissions and jointly funded by Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden. The project aims at supporting research and innovation in the common European priority sector of batteries.

The project will look at building a lithium batteries value chain, completely embedded in the EU, which will produce raw materials, cells, modules and battery systems on a large scale. The selected companies and research institutions that will join the project have been chosen to develop advanced disruptive technologies that meet performance, cost and safety objectives that are currently not met in the lithium-ion battery sector.

“We are honoured and proud to participate in this research project which is in line with our vision of innovation and sustainability. For us, in Flash Battery, innovation is an approach embraced by the whole company: we know that we don’t have all the answers but every day we try and find them, working together with companies and organisations to improve things for the people and communities where we work,” said Marco Righi, CEO of Kaitek Flash Battery, an Italian leading manufacturer of lithium batteries for industrial machinery and electric vehicles.

The company is gearing up to meet the demand for new generation lithium batteries and will inaugurate a new industrial facility near Reggio Emilia in the spring 2020. Kaitek Flash Battery reached €13.2 million turnover in 2018, with trading partners in 54 countries.
