Construction Truck Tire

By Mike Brezonick31 October 2019

Continental has introduced a tire for heavy-duty construction trucks. The Conti HSC 3, is a heavy truck, steer/all-position, construction tire targeting on-/off-road truck applications. The Conti HSC 3 tire delivers significant benefits over its HSC1 predecessor, including an estimated 11% mileage improvement, the company said.

Built on Continental’s 3G casing for reduced heat build-up and improved retreadability, the tire also incorporates a wider tread platform for increased mileage. The off-road belt package delivers improved penetration resistance, Continental said, and new cap/base tread compounds deliver a 100% improvement in cuts to the belt during cut-and-chip testing, as well as reducing heat buildup.

As an intelligent tire, the Conti HSC 3 is ready for Continental’s digital tire monitoring solutions to identify punctures and creeping air loss, helping avoid breakdowns. The entire Generation 3 construction tire line – Conti HSC 3 steer, Conti HDC 3 drive, and Conti HAC 3 all-position – are equipped with sensors glued to the inner liner of the tire to avoid the potential for damage. The sensor, which measures tire pressure and temperature, has a six-year, 400,000-mile service life, Continental said.
