Liebherr and Deutz have signed an agreement on engine distribution and servicing.  This latest deal between the two companies expands the existing cooperation with an agreement on the worldwide distribution and servicing of diesel engines.

Deutz AG will distribute four Liebherr engines in the power range from 200 to 620 kW (268 hp to 831 hp) through its own distribution network and under its own brand.

The four and six-cylinder engines with displacements of 9, 12, 13.5  and 18 L displacement – are being newly developed to comply with emission standards that include EU Stage 5, US Tier 4, China 4 und EU Stage 3a. Serial production is scheduled to start in 2019, just in time for the introduction of the new Stage 5 emission regulations in Europe.

“We are looking forward to further expand the business relations between our companies,” said Gebhard Schwarz, managing director of Liebherr-Component Technologies AG: “With its worldwide distribution network and its comprehensive servicing solutions, Deutz can reach out to new customer groups for our collaborative engines.”

Deutz and Liebherr have been working together for a number of years. Deutz TCD 3.6, 4.1 and 6.1 diesel engine are deployed in several Liebherr construction machines, including mobile and crawler excavators, telescopic handlers and concrete pumps.  In addition to the cooperation agreement, it is expected that supplies of its engines to Liebherr will be increased, Deutz said.

The Chairman of Deutz AG, Dr. Frank Hiller, said: “The new engines resulting out of this cooperation with Liebherr perfectly complement our product range, allowing us to target further power ranges and applications. In this way, customers will profit from our integration and servicing expertise.”

The four new engines will expand the Liebherr engine portfolio to comprise a total of 15 models across six series, covering a power range from 200 to 4500 kW (268 hp to 6034 hp). The engines are not only integrated in Liebherr’s own machines, but are deployed worldwide across a variety of brands.
