CUMMINS HEAVY-DUTY POWER FOR OFF-HIGHWAY USE

01 September 2021

The Cummins Stage V X12 diesel engine.

Cummins X12 and X15 Performance Series engines provide heavy-duty power solutions for the off-highway industry. Suitable for road construction, dump trucks, material handling and other specialised equipment, with an impressive 382 kW (512 hp) top rating for the 12-litre and 503 kW (675 hp) for the 15-litre, the two engines bring proven, premium performance suited for the toughest duty cycles.

The X12 is available in ratings from 250 to 383 kW (335 to 513 hp) with a peak torque capability of 2300 Nm.

The X12 is available from 250 to 383 kW (335 to 513 hp) with a peak torque capability of 2300 Nm. This engine has a sculpted block design which reduces weight while maximizing strength. It provides best in class power density with strong durability. Cummins wastegate turbo provides fast response to increasing load factors, even at low rpm. The engine meets the latest emissions needs without the need for cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), lowering heat rejection by over 40 percent compared with that of engines using this technology.

The X15 is available from 336 to 503 kW (450 to 675 hp) with a peak torque capability of 2779 Nm. The VGT turbo delivers exceptional throttle response. Using cooled EGR it gives clean reliable power across range of applications, duty cycles and load factors.

The Stage 5 Cummins X15 is available from 336 to 503 kW (450 to 675 hp) with a peak torque capability of 2779 Nm.

The Performance Series engines use the latest Cummins in-house technologies to deliver the optimum levels of performance and running costs with the lowest possible emissions. Proven Holset® wastegate or VGT™ variable geometry turbocharging technology deliver responsiveness with fuel-efficient performance. The lineup’s single turbocharger configurations are simpler and easier to maintain than equivalent series turbocharger setups. The Cummins electronic control unit manages the engine and aftertreatment as a single system for optimized performance with the lowest possible emissions. Common Cummins DOC-DPF-SCR aftertreatment systems to meet and exceed the ultra-low US Tier 4 Final emissions levels as well as EU Stage V. Cummins XPI fuel system enables efficient and clean combustion with low noise. Fleetguard Filtration delivers the best possible protection through superior holding capacity with Nanonet media.

The X15 Performance Series engines use the latest Cummins in-house technologies to deliver the optimum levels of performance and running costs with the lowest possible emissions.

Both the X12 and X15 are available as loose engines as well as power units. This is a package that includes cooling system, aftertreatment, air intake and mounting which is 60% pre-approved, reducing engineering cost and lead time.
