Real-time battery monitor

Veratron has announced a new battery monitor kit designed to bring real-time battery health and status monitoring to the smallest dashboard. The VL Flex Intelligent battery monitor system combines Veratron’s Intelligent Battery Sensor and its VL Flex Instrument, along with the components needed for a fast and easy installation, the company said.

The Intelligent Battery Sensor measures and reports voltage, current and temperature. It also originates additional critical data such as state of charge and overall battery health. The device works with either a single 12 V lead, gel or AGM battery or a series of two 24 V units.
Using an included remote button, Veratron’s 1.44 in. round VL Flex Instrument can scroll through set pages to display a large numeric value and/or colored bar graph. The device is easily configured via Veratron’s Intelligent Battery Monitor mobile app for Android and iOS to show dual data sets and alarms can be preset for trigger thresholds. Built to IP67 standards with a PMMA lens, nine bezels are available to match virtually any dashboard décor, the company said.
Installing the VL Flex Intelligent Battery Monitor Kit is simple, as the sealed Intelligent Battery Sensor clamps onto the negative pole terminal and is connected to the positive side through an integrated 3 amp fuse embedded into the included 19.6 in. wiring harness. The system has a power consumption of less than 50 mA, the company said.
With the optional Veratron stainless steel dip-pipe Liquid Level Sensor, the VL Flex Intelligent Battery Monitor Kit can also be expanded to monitor fuel or water tank levels. Available in lengths from 5.9 in. to 55 in., it incorporates a compensation chamber that delivers accurate, real-time measurements, the company said, and it also can be configured through the app.
