OTR Tire Pressure Monitoring System

31 January 2018

Bridgestone Americas, Inc. said it is expanding its portfolio with a new tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for off-the-road (OTR) tires used in the construction, quarry, underground hard rock and port industries. The PressureStat system is designed to be easy to use and provides instant access to important tire pressure and temperature data, allowing customers to accurately manage tire pressure on a real-time basis, the company said.

Tire pressure can be critical in OTR applications to ensure a vehicle’s weight is evenly distributed, preventing uneven wear and increasing tire performance. The PressureStat system utilizes valve stem sensors that deliver information on tire pressure and temperature to an in-cab monitor. Bluetooth connectivity also allows information to be viewed on mobile devices, the company said.

When combined with Bridgestone’s TreadStat tire and rim management software, the system can provide forecasting and analysis on the condition of tires and rims. The PresssureStat system is now available in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
