Cummins Inc. has added to its lineup of backup power generators aimed at the home and small business market segments.
The new RS125 and RS150 gen-sets are in the company’s QuietConnect Series, which ranges from 13 kW up to 150 kW. The RS125 offers 125kW and the RS150 provides 150 kW models and will be available in the first quarter of 2018.
The new generators run on natural gas and are powered by the Cummins QSJ8.9G spark-ignited engine, an adaptation of the company’s QSL9 diesel engine. The engine has a bore and stroke of 114.1 X 144.5 mm and overall displacement of 8.8 L. The gen-sets incorporate UC Series alternators manufactured by Cummins.
Both new models are designed to operate under extreme environmental conditions, including cold weather well below 0°F and winds up to 180 mph when equipped with the necessary accessories. The generator can also operate reliably in ambient temperatures up to 122°F.
