FPT Unveils Cursor 13 Natural Gas Engine

By David Lubach30 October 2017

FPT Industrial unveiled its newest natural gas engine, the Cursor 13 NG, for the on-road market segment.

FPT claims that the engine is the first purely natural gas engine on the market specially developed for long-haul missions and said it positions the company to strengthen its position as the leader in the natural gas segment.

The Cursor 13 NG delivers power up to 338 kW and 1900 r/min and torque up to 2000 Nm at 1100 rpm, offering up to 15% more power and 18% more torque than FPT’s 8.7 L NG engine. The Cursor 13 NG is a mono-fuel 100% natural gas and can run with compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) starting from methane number 70 and bio-methane.

The engine uses stoichiometric combustion to generate its power, proving to be a viable and cost-efficient solution to meet Euro 6 Step C emission limits. Thanks to the stoichiometric combustion the Cursor 13 NG complies with this standard with a three-way catalyst with no-EGR, no-SCR and no-DPF (regeneration free solution).
