With an operating weight of 5.1 t and featuring a Stage V Bobcat D24 engine, the new machine is the first of the company’s new compact wheeled loader range for the European market.

The model has two full glass doors either side of the cab for maxim visibility and is equipped with Bobcat’s jog shuttle system, which allows operators “to reach, navigate and confirm the set-up of the L85” via a 12.7 cm (5 in) LED display screen.

With a focus on ease of use, the machine’s controls for differential lock, turtle/rabbit mode, boom float and auxiliary flow control are located on the top of the joystick.

Bobcat said the location of all the controls was designed to make the L85 “easy and comfortable to operate even during long shifts”.

Jiri Karmazin, loaders product manager at Bobcat, said: “A product of the Bobcat Innovation Center on our Dobris campus, the L85 has been designed to set a new market-leading performance benchmark in this segment of the market.

“The L85 is built with proven components including the engine, structures, axles, electronics and hydraulics sourced either from Bobcat or our prestigious Tier 1 suppliers.

“Many components are already widely used in our market-leading compact loaders, mini-excavators and telehandlers, and the L85 undergoes the same final assembly and test procedures as these products.”

The loader was first presented to the industry at the manufacturer’s ‘Next is Now’ launch event in October of last year.

It is suitable for waste, recycling, general and industrial applications and incorporates Bobcat’s Advanced Attachment Control for use with standard couplers.

Attachments for the L85 currently include a general-purpose bucket, light material buckets, a combination bucket and pallet forks.

With the compact loader product line now in full production, the first L85 will be used to train both equipment dealers and customers at the Bobcat Institute in Dobris.
