Evonik’s Oil Additives

“Visitors at bauma will see that fluids formulated with Dynavis and Nuflux technologies are what their machines have been missing,” said Rolf Fianke, global brand manager Dynavis and Nuflux technology brands of the business line Oil Additives at Evonik – a German specialty chemicals company that will present the two oil additives brands on its booth in Hall A3, stand 244.

Dynavis is a technology for formulating hydraulic fluids, optimizing their viscosity. According to internal field tests at Evonik and in actual working conditions worldwide, lubricants formulated with Dynavis technology typically achieve efficiency gains at a minimum of 5 to 15%, with peaks of 25%. A test currently being carried out with a Hitachi EX1200 crawler excavator used for coal extraction in the Kuznetsk Basin, Russia, showed that the hydraulic fluid formulated using Dynavis yielded a productivity growth (in cbm/h) of 7.9%.

For harsh operating environments and high-performance applications, synthetic gear oils can add the advantage of longer service intervals and equipment service life but at higher cost. With Nuflux, Evonik said, lubricant companies can formulate industrial gear oils which are largely equivalent to synthetic lubricants and deliver benefits such as long service life and lower operating temperature while also being cost efficient.

A recent field trial in a pump gear for a water treatment plant in Sebokeng, South Africa, showed a higher degree of efficiency, so promising that the plant operator decided to fill 26 of their gears in the water treatment system with Nuflux formulated oil.
