EIMA Ag Show To Stay in Bologna Through 2030

By Chad Elmore09 February 2017

Italian farm equipment association FederUnacoma has signed an agreement with BolognaFiere in regards to EIMA International, the association’s agricultural machinery exhibition held in Bologna, Italy.

Called the first machine designed for area preparation and agriculture in areas that are covered in land mines, this Locostra tractor was on display during the 2014 edition of EIMA International.

The agreement, valid until 2030, states the parties will hold eight biennial editions of the trade show starting in 2018.

“The new agreement follows a precise economic plan that measures EIMA’s potential in terms of future development, and represents, for both parties, a carefully reasoned choice, also strongly supported by the Emilia-Romagna region and by the city of Bologna,” said Massimo Goldoni, president of FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation that organizes the exhibition.

“The agreement, however, also has a very important symbolic meaning, because the Emilia-Romagna region is a land of agriculture and machinery in the collective imagination, where a considerable number of industries that produce machinery, equipment and components for agriculture and park maintenance are located,” said Goldoni. “This agreement therefore reinforces the alliance between agriculture and industry, and makes Bologna a ‘world capital of agricultural mechanization.’”

As part of the agreement, BolognaFiere will restructure and improve the exhibition grounds, with completion of the work expected by the 2024 edition of EIMA.

FederUnacoma reported that EIMA has grown from 1,635 exhibitors in 2008 to 1,915 in the November 2016 edition, a 17% increase. The number of visitors has gone from 140,700 in 2008 to a record number of 285,000 during the 2016 edition. Manufactures at that event represented 45 countries and visitors came from more than 160 countries.

The first edition of the fair was held in 1969 in Bologna. Since that time there have been 36 annual editions and six biennial editions; the latter schedule started in 2006.

The next event is scheduled for November 7 to 11, 2018.
