Deutz Acquires Its Italian Distributor

By David Lubach05 October 2017

Deutz has acquired its sales and service partner in Italy, IML Motori. IML Motori has distributed Deutz diesel engines and spare parts for industrial, agricultural, stationary and vehicular applications for over a century.

Deutz said that with the takeover it is looking to drive growth in its profitable service business and increase its proximity to customers in the Mediterranean. A new company will be set up to trade in Italy under the name Deutz Italy.

“This acquisition is in line with our strategy of investing in the company’s service network in selected locations in order to drive further growth in this profitable segment. The increasing technical complexity of the engine business also requires close contact with our customers,” said Michael Wellenzohn, member of the Board of Management of Deutz AG for sales/service & marketing.

The company also customizes engines and provides aftersales and service activities.

The acquisition includes IML Motori, in Lomagna near Milan, the subsidiary IML Service, and the Romanian sales and service company IML Motoare (which also distributes Deutz engines in Romania).

IML Motori’s management team led by its managing director Roberto Brivio.
