Countdown to ConExpo begins

The next ConExpo-Con/Agg event will be held in a year’s time, on March 14-18, 2023, with the show organisers saying the event will be bigger than ever before.

Since the last show was held in Las Vegas, US, the new West Hall and adjacent Diamond Lot have been constructed on the site of the old Gold Lot to provide more exhibitor space. Another new addition is the Tesla-powered people mover, now called the ‘LVCC Loop,’ underground transport project.

The show, which is organised by the AEM, was last held just as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic was becoming clear. Since then, some trade shows have postponed, cancelled or taken place with increased health and safety precautions and there has been debate about what the future of trade shows looks like.

In an interview in the January February issue of International Construction magazine Megan Tanel, the new president of the AEM, gave her views on trade shows, saying, “I do think there’s the best value of being there in-person. You’re able to build stronger relationships and there’s the unintended great idea that comes out of conversations that you have with people from around the world.

“We will continue to have the value of the face to face with our events coupled with an enhanced digital or virtual component.”

According to the Las Vegas Convention Center, the new West Hall provides an additional 1.4 million square feet of indoor space, including 600,000 square feet of “technologically advanced” exhibit space.

The LVCC Loop, which features new electric Tesla vehicles carrying attendees around the LVCC,  stops in the South Hall (providing access to both floors of South Hall and IFPE exhibits), running to Central Hall (providing access to Central and North Halls) and finishing at Diamond Lot, providing access to West Hall.
