Briggs & Stratton has launched its new Vanguard 7kWh Diecast Commercial Battery, in order to meet a growing demand from OEMs for flexible power solutions.

The 7kWh pack, which joins the Vanguard 1.5, 3.8, 5 and 10kWh battery options, incorporates lithium-ion technology and includes a Battery Management System “that monitors voltage and temperature to assure safe and efficient operations”.

Chris Davison, senior marketing manager for electrification at Briggs & Stratton, said, “By placing a greater emphasis on electrification and adding solutions like the 7kWh pack, we are solidifying that commitment and setting both our customers and Vanguard up for ongoing success.”

The pack can be fully charged in under eight hours and, when more power is required, can be scaled up and used in a bank of up to 10 Vanguard units.

Suitable for a range of applications, including those in the recreation sector, the battery’s CMA (Cellular Modular Assembly) units are protected by a diecast aluminium casing that defends against impact, vibration and extreme temperatures.

“Because it includes the battery, charger and BMS all in one complete solution, the 7kWh Commercial Battery is easily integrated into OEM equipment,” said Briggs & Stratton.

“The battery also features a dual CANbus communication protocol that allows OEMs to communicate with the battery’s J1939 (automotive standard) CANbus and uses the second CANbus to communicate with any existing communication network without having to reprogram a legacy system.”
