Major fan drive deal for Concentric
14 June 2021
Concentric AB announced it has been awarded a contract to supply a hydraulic fan motor with integrated valve and control functions to a Chinese material handling OEM.
The fan motor system will be used to control engine cooling and oil temperature. This new hydraulic motor allows the fan speed to be fully variable, Concentric said, providing a stable machine operating temperature range allowing the material handler to work within the optimum efficiency range.
Production will start this year and sales revenues from this new contract are estimated to be worth SEK 35 million (approximately $4.2 million) over the next five years.
“Winning new business with a Chinese OEM demonstrates our hydraulic products are competitive in this market, when customers require innovative products,” said David Woolley, CEO and president of Concentric AB. “Concentric’s ability to develop these new products to solve our customer’s needs in challenging machine applications around the world means we continue to be their supplier of choice.”
The hydraulic fan motor units has the following key benefits:
Concentric’s hydraulic fan motor technology is designed to operate in tough and demanding environments such as material handling equipment, construction equipment and agricultural machinery. The system incorporates proportional pressure relief valves at adjust fan motor speed to cooling air requirements, independent of engine speed. The on-demand cooling capability improves overall machine efficiency and reduces engine emissions and noise, the company said. In addition, the fan motor is reversible, enabling simplified radiator cleaning.
The Concentric fan drive offering includes systems that include integrated valves, onboard ASICS (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and CAN bus interface.
