GHH expands underground loader offering

Mining equipment specialist GHH has launched a new diesel-engined LHD.

GHH Fahrzeuge GmbH has added a new machine to its range of load-haul-dumps (LHDs) designed for underground hard rock mines. The new LF-7 LHD fits in the medium-size product segment.

The articulated machine carries 7000 kg (15,400 lb.) of payload in its bucket, but is 8900 mm (350 in.) long in the driving position, 2240 mm (88 in.) wide at the bucket and 2200 mm (87 in.) high at the cab when loaded. The company said the size means it meets demands like narrow vein and small mass mining operations.

new GHH LHD The new GHH LF-7 is a 7 tonne machine.

It is powered by a Cummins diesel engine rated 164 kW (220 hp) that complies with U.S. EPA Tier 3 and 4 as well as EU Stage 5 emissions standards. A Dana transmission shifts forward and reverse in four gears to cope with gradients of up to 28% and  reach speeds of up to 27 km/h (17 mph).

The cab is ROPS/FOPS certified and offers a high level of safety and ergonomics with a t-back seat, low whole body vibration and noise levels, as well as good ride control and visibility, said GHH.

The German equipment manufacturer said the LHD’s frame and overall design will result in lower operating costs. All maintenance can be performed at ground level while relevant vehicle data can be accessed and remotely evaluated via its analysis software, GHH InSiTE.

The LF-7 is proximity detection interface ready with bucket weighing and tire pressure monitoring systems optional.

The company said the new LHD can be paired with its MK-A20 dump truck for three-pass loading. GHH offers LHDs with payloads from 3 to 21 tonnes.
