Briggs To Launch New Gen-Set Line
11 May 2016
Briggs & Stratton Corp. announced that it is phasing out its GE Generator Systems line of standby generators and replacing it with a new premium line of generators that will span a range of air- and liquid-cooled units to 60 kW. The Briggs & Stratton Fortress standby generator systems will be sold exclusively through Briggs & Stratton’s dealer network.
“We are committed to helping our dealers grow their business, and market research tells us the number one factor in a customer’s decision is the value and warranty that comes with working with a dealer,” said Kimberly Raduenz, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton Standby Power. “The Briggs & Stratton brand is a trusted name when it comes to delivering power and we’re excited to offer the new Fortress product line exclusively to our dealer network.”
Briggs & Stratton said the Fortress products will offer the same features as GE Generator Systems units, including the Symphony II power management system. The gen-sets will have a six-year warranty on parts, labor and travel. Additionally, Fortress units come standard with oil warmers or block heaters. Air-cooled units will be housed within corrosion-resistant, automotive-grade galvanized steel enclosures while the liquid-cooled models have aluminum enclosures.
As of June 1, Briggs & Stratton will no longer produce GE-branded products, but the company said it will still provide service and support for GE units sold.
