@OTC: Meritor Unveils New Axles
01 May 2018
Meritor introduced a pair of new heavy-duty off-highway axles at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas. The unveiling took place at the Kenworth booth, where the truck manufacturer was displaying a heavy-duty vehicle, suitable for a range of oil and gas applications, that incorporated an all-Meritor powertrain.
The new axles are the MOR-32 planetary front drive steer axle and the MON-32, a non-drive version. Both axles offer load ratings of 32,000 lb., a significant increase over the previous 26,000 lb. capacity of previous Meritor axles.
The MOR-32 axles are available with ratios from 3.46:1 to 24.82:1 to meet the most severe application requirements, Meritor said. The axle can be configured to any track length for custom applications, the company said, and a driver-controlled differential lock and central tire inflation system can also be specified.
Meritor said it has begun taking orders for the new axles, which are being built at its facility in Laurinburg, N.C.
