Iveco Supply Agreement For 500 NG Trucks
20 October 2017
Iveco, the commercial vehicles brand of CNH Industrial N.V., has received its largest order to date for its Stralis NP long haul natural gas trucks. The agreement, signed with Belgium’s Jost Group, a pan-European transport and logistics companies, is for the delivery of a fleet of 500 Stralis NP trucks running on LNG. The first 150 vehicles will enter into operation during 2018, with the full fleet to be in service by 2020.
The trucks are powered by an 8.7 L Cursor 9 Euro 6 gas engine. The engine features new-generation gas injectors, fuel rail and pistons. A new longitudinal 3-way catalyst contributes to compliance with emission limits, while ensuring low noise levels, and leaving enough space to increase fuel tank capacity, Iveco said.
The Jost Group has an announced goal to have 35% of its fleet running on LNG and is supporting this with an investment in its own LNG refueling infrastructure, with plans to open up to three filling stations within its major operating centers in Belgium.
This order will replace four to five year old pre-Euro 6 diesel-powered vehicles, in the Belgian firm’s fleet of 1400 trucks. Presently, Jost Group conducts operations with 132 Iveco Stralis vehicles, including two running on compressed natural gas (CNG).
