Sensing & Controls NewsProgrammable Relay Module![]() Aiming to provide a more robust switching device for control of functions and shutdowns in on- and off-highway vehicles and equipment, Trombetta has introduced its Programmable Relay Module. The Programmable Relay Module can be customized to fit harsh environment applications and is targeted at applications such as fan relays, engine shutdowns for high temperature, low oil or high speed, flasher turn signals, seat switch delays, anti-backfire relays, solenoid multi-coil controls, low oil start, diesel preheat relays, rev limiters and automatic lights. The Programmable Relay Module switches loads up to 40 amps and features switching points, output timing and delay timing responses to external parameters with presets and response maps tailored to application requirements. Typical inputs are switch or resistive type sensors, as well as the module's own optional internal thermistor, allowing control input parameters to include temperature, pressure, light, vibration, and other logic or control functions. Voltage range is 6 to 18 V dc with an IP 66/67 rating, the company said. "The Programmable Relay Module is an extremely robust, environmentally sealed switching device that can be programmed to meet a customer's application requirements at an economical price," said Charles Trayner, national sales manager at Trombetta. Pricing is in the $15 - $20 range for volumes as low as 1,000 pieces with a lead time of 8 to 12 weeks, the company said. Trombetta - Tympanium is a global manufacturer of power switching and power management products. Founded in 1932, Trombetta specializes in dc contactors, industrial work solenoids, key switches, and electronic controls. Founded in 1970, Tympanium specializes in voltage regulators, time delay switches, and ac generators. In 2007 Trombetta – Tympanium became one company whose products are widely applied in power sports, lawn and garden equipment, agriculture and construction, medium and heavy trucks, RV and marine applications. |
