Sensing & Controls NewsWilcoxon Launches New Industrial Accelerometers![]() Vibration sensor and sensor network manufacturer Wilcoxon Research, a Meggitt group company, has introduced two full-performance, compact, industrial accelerometers, the 780B and 780C. These two new sensors join the company’s 780A model, forming a three model family of narrow, low-profile, and lightweight sensors, designed for walk-around collection of vibration monitoring data. Wilcoxon said the 780A, 780B, and 780C accelerometers are full-performance, 100 mV/g general purpose vibration sensors. The 780 family of sensors has an 80 g acceleration range and a broad +/-3dB frequency response from 0.4 to 14 kHz. A two-pin, MIL-C-5015 connector is standard and compatible with the existing data collection infrastructure, Wilcoxon said. They also are designed to fit the same connector used on the majority of industrial accelerometers. Other features of the Wilcoxon vibration sensors include a 316L stainless steel enclosure that is hermetically sealed, ESD protected, and EMI / RFI shielded. Operating temperature for the accelerometers is -58o to 184oF. The 780 sensors are used in vibration monitoring of most industrial rotating equipment, such as fans, motors, pumps, blowers, compressors, chillers, gearboxes, and mixers found in industries such as pulp and paper, nuclear power, power generation, petrochemical, oil and gas, food and beverage, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, railway, steel making, and water and wastewater treatment. |
