Sensing & Controls NewsTotally Passive SAW SensorsSenseor, the French manufacturer of surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensing components, has announced the launch of three wireless temperature sensing solutions. In addition to the wireless, Senseor said its new products are totally passive; powered only by the energy of radio waves emitted by the associated reader unit when remotely interrogating the devices in real-time. The company explained that without any batteries or active electronic components at the sensor level, the units are applicable for use in explosive atmospheres or irradiated environments at temperatures reaching + 175 °C with almost unlimited autonomy. Senseor also said that current in-house research and development efforts are targeting a + 350 °C temperature limit. Without wires, the company said the sensors can be mounted on a range of rotating and moving machinery parts or be installed in inaccessible places. Two thermowell-packaged wireless temperature probes, the models SED-100 and SED-120, are now commercially available. Further, Senseor has announced the market launch of a system to monitor surface temperature; the SA-D003. Also, the integrated building block of all these sensing solutions, the SE-AS10 SAW sensor, is also available as stand-alone device, capable of sensing temperatures from - 20 to + 175 °C with a measurement precision of ± 2 °C. |
