Sensing & Controls NewsUltrasonic Sensing Finding Use in SCR Systems![]() S3LQL is a new sensing system by Seuffer, Calw-Hirsau, Germany, to measure fill level and quality of fluids, based on ultrasonic technology. Seuffer said S3LQL is already in use in commercial vehicle applications for measuring the level of the urea solution tank in SCR systems and is resistant to almost all kind of fluids, including urea. Even though the product was developed with fill levels in mind, the analysis of the ultrasonic signal in the device allows for additional data to be collected from just one sensor, and to be digitally transferred via CAN, LIN or other bus systems. Several qualities of the fluid can be evaluated with the same device: temperature, concentration of an additive or particle, and viscosity, among others. It is also possible to integrate other functions, such as a PWM module to control a pump. Seuffer also said it designs customer-specific versions. The manufacturer expects to broaden the application of the S3LQL to engine-powered vehicles in general and to other types of liquid. Learn More About Seuffer's Technology |
