Eaton’s New Sealed Vehicle Rocker Switches

Eaton Corp. has expanded its vehicle controls product offering with a new above-panel Sealed Vehicle Rocker (SVR) and XT Series Toggles. Eaton’s SVR switches offer features such as an IP68 seal at the integrated connector interface, which allows the switches to function underwater. The XT Series Toggles are designed to provide a standard high rating for both single and double pole applications.

The SVR switches are designed to meet the rigorous requirements of the marine, heavy-duty truck, specialty, utility, agriculture and construction vehicle markets. The XT Series Toggles are targeted toward a broad range of applications, including commercial and industrial equipment, industrial machinery and automation, medical equipment, military communications and surveillance and rail systems.

The above-panel SVR switches have a umbrella-style rocker button and bezel-less frame that is designed to deflect moisture and debris from entering under the rocker button. It has been tested to IP68 seal level, allowing submersion of the switch under water, and includes the ability to seal the switch terminal to the harness interface, the company said.

Key features of the SVR switches include a mechanical life of up to 250,000 cycles, LED lighting available for 12 and 24 V, a 10-terminal construction designed to meet most circuit requirements, a front-to-back enclosure seal with optional panel seal, an industry standard panel cut-out (36.8 mm x 21.1 mm) and a polarized, IP68 sealed, positive locking connector SVR accessories include panel plug, connector, gang mount panel adaptors, palm guard frame and snap-in-lens indicators.

The XT Series Toggle line offers a wide range of switching circuits, functions and accessories, Eaton said. Ratings for single- and double-pole include 20 amp at 125 V a.c. and 10 amperes at 277 V a.c. to handle more severe inductive, motor and lamp loads. Additionally, XT Series Toggles have a high standard horsepower rating of 1½ hp from 125 to 250 V a.c. for double pole applications. The toggles have an industry standard 0.480 in. diameter mounting hole.
