Tier 4 Power Unit From Cummins Power Products

February 2, 2010

Cummins Power Products (CPP), a joint venture with Cummins Inc., has unveiled its new Tier 4 interim QSB6.7 power unit at the World of Concrete show in Las Vegas. The QSB6.7 unit is believed to be the first Tier 4-capable power unit displayed with an integrated air-intake-to-exhaust aftertreatment, CPP said.

With a maximum rating of 300 hp (224 kW), the QSB6.7 unit is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7 engine and retains the same installation space from current Tier 3 applications through to Tier 4 Final in 2014. This packaging approach gives OEMs the ability to engineer Cummins Power Products into their installation one time, providing significant cost savings, the company said.

The QSB6.7 power unit is the first in a new range of next-generation of power unit products engineered to meet EPA Tier 4 Interim and European Stage 3B off-highway emissions regulations. The power units consist of a complete unit that is either enclosed or on frame rails, incorporating an engine, base rails, a cooling package, exhaust with aftertreatment and an air intake system. Power units are used to drive a wide array of machines, including brush chippers, rock crushers, dewatering pumps, irrigation sprayers, rail maintenance units, mud pump installations, agricultural harvesting machines, industrial vacuums, hydraulic systems and oil well rig drills.
