Industry NewsCummins Power Generation Opens China PlantNovember 20, 2009 Cummins Power Generation (CPG) has expanded its global manufacturing capabilities with the recent opening of a plant in central China. The CPG Wuhan plant will offer a broad range of diesel electrical generator sets from 11 to 2000 kW, generator drives and automatic transfer switches (ATS) for emergency backup, prime power and continuous electrical power. Cummins said it has invested $19 million in the 215,000 sq. ft. facility. The plant will have an annual capacity of 7300 diesel gen-sets, 20,000 generator drives and 15,000 ATS. The plant is located near key suppliers and transportation facilities with access to locally produced engines and key components, Cummins said. According to the company, the new facility will meet the increased demand for Cummins products in China and the international market. The plant is CPG's third operation in China. Other sites include a generator assembly plant in Beijing and a Cummins Generator Technologies plant in Wuxi. |
