Generac Power Systems has announced that after 31 years at Generac, William Treffert, 63, has decided to retire from his position as the company’s chief executive officer. He will stay on to assist the company during the transition period.

Edward A. LeBlanc has been named the new chief executive officer of the company, effective immediately. LeBlanc served as non-executive chairman of the company’s board of directors for the past year and has more than 20 years of executive management experience in the industrial and consumer products industry.

“We are excited to have an executive with Ed LeBlanc’s experience already on board at Generac and in place to take the reins at this time in the company’s growth and development,” said Tim Walsh, managing director of CCMP Capital Advisors, the private equity firm that owns Generac.

Prior to joining Generac as non-executive chairman, LeBlanc was president and chief executive officer of the Residential and Commercial Division of Kidde, plc, a leading supplier of fire protection equipment servicing retail, consumer, commercial, industrial and international markets.
