Suzuki To Build Diesels For Fiat

Suzuki Motor Corp. said it has reached a basic agreement with Fiat Auto SpA of Italy to produce diesel engines together at a Suzuki factory in Asia. Suzuki said the two companies are planning to produce 100,000 2.0-liter diesel engines a year starting in 2010. Suzuki, partially owned by General Motors, said it will select where to produce the engines from its factories in Asia. Currently, Suzuki gets diesel engines from other automakers, including Fiat and Renault SA of France.
