Hyundai Motor To Develop Diesel Engines

Hyundai Motor Co. said it has decided to develop commercial vehicle diesel engines. The Korean manufacturer said it would spend US$273.7 million to develop the engines with production beginning in October 2007. The engines, Hyundai said, would be developed to meet Korea’s new diesel emissions regulations that begin in 2008. Further details on the new engine line were not announced. Hyundai currently manufactures a range of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, as well as range of buses and chassis.
