UL Approval For Engine Heaters
Hotstart, a developer and manufacturer of diesel engine block heaters, has obtained UL/C-US approval on its HOTflow line of CTM forced circulation engine heaters. The Spokane, Wash.-based company said that its CTM models specified with a 10 ft. cord and NEMA plug will carry the UL mark. CTM models that are UL listed meet all the requirements for application on UL2200 listed generator sets, Hotstart said. The approved engine heaters range from 1 kW to 2.5 kW in both 120 and 240V.
The company said the approval process was necessary to meet the demands of its OEM customers, add that gen-set OEMs will only specify UL listed components. Now that the CTM meets the requirements for UL2200 listed gen-sets, Hotstart said its OEMs have an energy efficient engine heating option. The HOTflow engine heater incorporates an integrated pump that circulates warm coolant throughout the entire engine at uniform temperatures. Constant circulation of the coolant eliminates hotspots that can deteriorate heater hoses, harm engine seals and diminish coolant life. The company said the HOTflow heaters rely on fewer heating cycles – saving up to 2000 kWh/yr in energy consumption while extending heater element life and reducing maintenance work.Edit Module
