Cat Relaunching 3406C Marine Diesel

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems is relaunching one its most successful marine engine platforms the Cat 3406C marine propulsion engine.  The engine, which debuted in 1992, began production in late 2013, providing customers in lesser regulated countries, including Latin America and Asia, commercial marine propulsion diesel.

The mechanically governed 3406C propulsion engine will be available in ratings of 272 bkW at 1800 rpm and 298 bkW at 1800 rpm.  Cat said the engine is applicable for small offshore, inland waterways and commercial fishing applications.

With the relaunch of the 3406C platform, the engine will be offered with either keel cooled or heat exchanger cooling systems.
