J.R. Merritt has introduced a new FS1 finger-operated joystick controller designed for a variety of applications, such as in-cab control panels, portable radio control boxes and pendants. The single-axis, Hall-effect joystick features a 2.2 in. actuator height and compact, glass-filled Zytel housing.

Moisture-resistant non-ferrous components and conformal-coated electronics provide durability and ruggedness for use in industrial vehicles, mobile machinery, on- and off-highway applications and for in-plant process control, J.R. Merritt said. The non-contacting, Hall-effect sensors provide long life and control in harsh environments. The extension-style spring return offers smooth and precise operations, the company said.

The FS1 is sealed to IP55 and meets or exceeds CE EMC requirements. An optional boot sealed to IP66 is available, making this device suitable for corrosive and hostile environments. Other options include a 2.6 in. actuator height, friction brake, step detent, 7-30 V input, redundant output and low power consumption.
