AEM: Ag Equipment Sales Down
A disappointing 2005 is coming to a close for the farm equipment industry. According to figures from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) sales through October 31 find overall tractor sales down 1.3% for the year, while combine sales are 2.4% lower than 2004.
Only tractors in the 40 to 100 hp range, which show an 8.3% increase, and four-wheel-drive tractors, up 5.7%, have better sales than at this point in 2004. The largest drop is in the largest market segment, two-wheel-drive tractors below 40 hp. Sales of those tractors are down 6.4% to 119,439 units. A total of 5764 combines have been sold in 2005, 2.4% lower than last year.
