Fiat Industrial Opens Argentine Plant
Fiat Industrial has opened a new agricultural machinery and engine plant in Córdoba, Argentina. The investment is part of a U$ 130 million plan the company announced in 2011.
“The construction of this factory is an evident signal of our reliability in the relevant role we consider this country has as an agricultural producer in a world scale,” said Fiat President Sergio Marchionne. “We committed to build this complex two years ago and we can see the production of high technology equipment now, which provide support to the Argentinean agricultural production and constitute an export base for other international markets.”
The 210 000 m3 complex will manufacture Case IH and New Holland machinery and Fiat Powertrain diesel engines. Production will include four models of rotor combines from 380 to 480 hp, tractors from 65 to 250 hp and diesel engines from 55 to 530 hp. The factory was designed for a capacity of up to 2000 combines, 4000 tractors and 50 000 engines a year.
