Bobcat Begins Building “Acceleration Center”
Bobcat Co. has broken ground on a $20 million renovation and expansion project at its Bismarck, N.D., facility. When construction is completed in 2014, the “Acceleration Center” will consist of an expanded existing building as well as development of a new test track and indoor testing facility the Northern Plains Commerce Centre.
The expansion of the existing building will include a two-story office building and provide a total of 160,000 sq. ft. of workspace. A 35,000 sq. ft. indoor testing arena will also be constructed next to a 22-acre outdoor testing and track area. The Acceleration Center will initially house 135 employees that will be involved with design, testing, prototype engineering and computer simulation.
Bobcat dealers and customers will be brought to the complex for training and hands-on experience operating the newest skid-steer loaders, compact track loaders and mini excavators from Bobcat.
When complete, the entire project — including the original building constructed in in 2005 — will mark a $35 million investment by Bobcat in the Northern Plains Commerce Centre.
