Perkins Engines said it will invest £19 million in a test facility for its current and future products at its headquarters in Peterborough, England. Over the next two years, the company plans to install 12 new mechanical validation cells and five endurance cells at its Global Engine Development center (GED).

Perkins said the facility will allow it to put its Tier 4 engines through the most stringent validation tests and the news follows on from the company’s recent announcement to create a crankshaft machining centre in Peterborough. GED currently has approximately 50 test cells and seven additional specialist cells undertaking a variety of validation tests including performance and emissions, mechanical development, endurance and transient development.
