Gehl Co. has announced a $6.5 million expansion project at its Yankton, SD telehandler operations. The West Bend, Wis. company said the expansion is in response to the continuing strength of telehandler markets.

The project includes a $2.2 million, 30,000 sq. ft. expansion of the facility as well as $4.3 million in further technological production enhancements to include increased laser cutting, robotics and an entirely new paint system. When completed, in January of 2007, telehandler production capacity will be approximately 50% greater than today, Gehl said.

Gehl currently builds 16 models of telehandlers at its Yankton facility in various product configurations ranging in capacity from 6,000 to 12,000 lbs. and lift height from 34 to 55 ft.
