Delphi Launches New DPF Program
Delphi Product & Service Solutions (DPSS) announced today the launch of its new comprehensive diesel particulate filter (DPF) program including a retrofit after-treatment system and cleaning machine.
The Delphi DPF Retrofit System can automatically regenerate the DPF by injecting fuel to increase the temperature to the required level. The system regeneration enables continuous operation. The core of the filter is made from silicon carbide, targeted for harsh working conditions. The system’s combined active and passive regeneration (hybrid) process oxidizes the pollutants carbon oxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) without increasing the levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Delphi says the solution has been independently verified, and noted a reduction of particulate emission greater than 99 percent and a reduction of CO and HC emission greater than 95 percent.
The new Delphi DPF cleaning process is a suite of tools and procedures developed to ensure DPFs that pass through the system receive a validated clean with ash deposits removed. The process does not affect catalytic coatings, filter mounting mats or impact durability. Future Euro 6 compliant engines will require filter substrates with 300 or 350 cells per square inch, meaning conventional systems may struggle to maintain ash removal on a single cycle.
