New Kohler Diesels

Posted on March 15, 2013

Lombardini will exhibit the new family of KDI (Kohler Direct Injection) diesel engines at bauma 2013.  The KDI family is composed of three displacements — 1.9 L, 2.5 L and 3.4 L — each available in mechanical and electronically controlled configurations. The  mechanical injection engines are compliant with EU Stage 3a emission regulations while the common rail injection engines meet EU Stage 3b and EPA Tier 4 final emissions requirements without DPF aftertreatment. The first two models in both configurations are already in production, while the 3.4 L engines are still under development.

Taking center stage in Munich will be the three-cylinder 1.9-L engine with a power rating of 42 kW at 2600 r/min and the four-cylinder 2.5 L engine rated of 55.4 kW at 2600 r/min.

Also on display will be the new KD15-440 diesel engine, the first in the new KD15 single-cylinder range, a derivation from Lombardini’s existing 15LD engine series.

The KD15-440 and KD15-440S variants are rated 8.0 and 7.3 kW at 3600 r/min respectively. All KD15 engines will maintain the same mounting points, overall dimensions and remote connections as the 15LD, making them directly interchangeable, Lombardini said.
