In-Tank Fuel Warmer

Posted on March 13, 2013

Arctic Fox has announced the release of a new fuel heating system that incorporates an integrated pickup tube designed for use with diesel-fired coolant heaters and other fuel dependent products. The new Hot Fox In-Tank/In-Line Fuel Warmer with Auxiliary Standpipe is designed to provide protection against fuel gelling problems associated with cold weather operation by using engine coolant to warm diesel fuel in the vehicle fuel tank and fuel lines.

Like the company’s other Hot Fox warmers, the system incorporates a 1.5 in. (38 mm) stainless steel tube that is inserted into the fuel tank through a standard fuel gauge sending unit opening. Coolant passages inside the tube surround the fuel standpipe to provide heat rise and the internal fuel line utilizes a spiral design to provide a larger heat exchange surface from warm coolant to cold fuel.

A 2 in. profile allows it to be mounted on vehicles with reduced clearance between the fuel tank and cab and a range of fuel tank sizes can be accommodated, Arctic Fox said.

The new system also includes a 2 or 4 mm I.D. auxiliary fuel tube to accommodate most diesel fired coolant preheaters and its stainless steel construction makes it durable and compatible with all fuels and additives, the company said.

The new system will be on display at the Arctic Fox booth (61104) at the upcoming Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville.
