EPA Certifies Cummins Westport ISX12 G

Posted on March 21, 2013

Cummins Westport, Vancouver, B.C., said that it has received certification for its Cummins Westport ISX12 G engine from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), meeting both the EPA 2013 regulations and the new greenhouse gas and fuel-efficiency rules that will take effect in 2014. Limited production of the ISX12 G begins in April, with full production scheduled to start in August.

The ISX12 G natural gas engine is based on the Cummins ISX12 diesel engine platform and operates exclusively on natural gas (compressed natural gas or liquefied natural gas) utilizing Cummins Westport's proprietary spark-ignited, stoichiometric combustion with cooled exhaust gas recirculation (SEGR)  technology.
