New Filter Media For Lube, Hydraulic Applications

Posted on March 5, 2008

Donaldson Co., a global manufacturer of filtration systems and components, has developed the next generation of its Synteq filter media. The new Synteq XP media is engineered to provide enhanced engine and system component protection in engine lubrication and hydraulic circuits.

The Synteq XP media technology incorporated a a resin-free bonding technique, blending small glass fibers and large polyester fibers that provide unblocked filtration fibers and channels for optimum draining of the collected liquids and this higher performance, the company said. The small fibers are proven to increase efficiency, while the larger fibers provide structural support and clear drain channels, Donaldson added.

As a result, Donaldson said the Synteq XP media reduces operating pressure drop, provides higher filtration efficiency and allows for more variety in packaging. As a synthetic product, it provides two to three times greater service life than traditional cellulose filter media, the company added.

Donaldson Engine Systems & Parts will unveil hydraulic and crankcase filtration systems that utilize Synteq XP filtration technology at the ConExpo-Con/Agg Show in Las Vegas.
