Posted on March 23, 2006

Cummins Inc. announced the full ratings for its 2007 heavy-duty ISX and ISM at the Mid-America Trucking Show. A full lineup of ratings will be available for the ISX spanning a range of 385 to 600 hp, including three new SmartTorque ratings.

The ISX 425 SmartTorque provides extra torque (1550/1750 lb.ft.) designed to allow truckload fleets to stay in top gear longer, maintain road speed better and shift less often on grades, Cummins said.

The ISX 485 ST is designed for the premium truckload market and provides 485 hp and delivers 1650/1850 ft. lb. of torque. For owner/operators, Cummins offers the ISX 600 with 1850 lb.ft. of torque. All of the new ratings are compatible with a range of automated and manual transmissions, Cummins said.

The new ISM engines will cover a range of 280 to 425 hp, with new 410 and 425 hp ratings. All of the ’07 engines will feature enhanced cooled EGR systems, Holset variable geometry turbos with electric actuation, a Fleetguard Enviroguard crankcase filtration system and a Cummins particulate filter.

Both the ISX and ISM for 2007 will be available in limited production in fourth-quarter 2006, with full production beginning in January 2007.
