Oil Filter Check Valve

Posted on June 18, 2013

Minnesota Rubber and Plastics has designed a new check valve for oil filtration systems on marine and industrial engines. Constructed of glass reinforced nylon, the two-piece oil filter check valve allows switching between two oil filters during routine engine operation.  The two molded components incorporate special rubber seals that are chemically and mechanically bonded to each end of the valve. The seals prevent oil flow to one filter during operation while allowing oil to flow to the second filter, the company said.

Glass reinforced nylon offers excellent stability at elevated oil temperatures, Minnesota Rubber said, and the valve’s hollow design structure provides relief from thermal expansion under operating conditions. The two-piece design also simplified the rubber molding process, the company said
