Coolant Level Sensor

Posted on June 28, 2013

Gems Sensors & Controls has introduced a point level sensor designed rugged coolant applications.

The CAP-300 Series Coolant Level Sensor’s protruding black electrode detects the presence or absence of the liquid medium and actuates a solid state switched output in less than a second, the company said. The sensor is optimized to detect any concentration of glycol-based coolant commonly used in internal combustion engines, the company said.

The Cap-300 operates in a frequency range which minimizes the effects of the conductivity of the media to ensure long term performance and the sealed design prevents any fluid intrusion, the company said. Compatible with aqueous based coolants, the CAP-300 is designed for power generation equipment, off-highway vehicles and cell phone tower generators.

The low-maintenance CAP-300 will require nearly zero maintenance is 2 in. in length, tolerates coating and will remain reliable even in the standby mode, the company said. The capacity based sensor is compatible with temperatures up to 257°F is available with a variety of mounting types can handle a supply voltage from 9 to 32 VDC, the company said. The CAP-300 currently has multiple approvals including CE, IP67, RoHS and IP6K9K.
