Mainland China exported $1.5 billion worth of generators and generator sets in 2005, a 60% increase over the previous year, according to a report from the China Sourcing Report. The report said the jump in exports was driven by strong demand from the Middle East and Africa with combined imports of $417 million. The United States followed with purchases of $323 million.

According to the report, Chinese manufacturers are continuing to add features to meet certification requirements of offshore markets. The 123-page report profiles 66 Chinese manufacturers.
