Jacobs Vehicle Systems (JVS), the Bloomfield, Conn., manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engine retarding systems and valve actuation mechanisms, announced that Sergio Sgarbi has been appointed president, effective July 22. He succeeds Rob Tykal, who has transitioned into a broader role within parent company Danaher.

Most recently, he was vice president Global Engine and Marketing. He also served on the board of Magnum Power, a joint venture with Caterpillar Reman and Navistar.

Earlier he was vice president and general manager, North American Business Operations at Navistar.
