Sommer Named Next ZF CEO

ZF has announced that Stefan Sommer, 48, has been named the company's next chief executive officer, succeeding Hans-Georg Härter who will retire at the end of April 2012. Sommer will become deputy CEO starting on Jan 1, 2012 and will then assume the CEO position on May 1, replacing Härter who will retire at the end of April 2012.

Sommer joined ZF in 2008 and and has been a member of the company's board responsible for supply chain management and purchasing since October 2010. He was also head of the project regarding the group's strategic restructuring.

Sommer began at ZF Sachs AG in 2008 where he became head of the Suspension Division. In 2010, he was appointed to the group's nanagement board responsible for Materials Management.

A few weeks ago, current CEO Härter prolonged his contract expiring at the end of 2011 by one year at the request of ZF's supervisory board.
