Pierre Guyot has been appointed general manager of the Saran, France, engine factory of John Deere, following Daniel Barbereau's retirement. Guyot joined John Deere at Saran as manager of assembly in 1998, after holding several positions in purchasing and operations at Peugeot (PSA) in the U.K., and then in the Poissy factory in France. In 2002, he was appointed operations manager at Deere’s Arc Les Gray factory in France and in October 2004, he became director, supply management, agricultural equipment, at the Deere’s European Office in Mannheim, Germany.

Guyot's new duties will include the final introduction of Tier 3/Stage 3A engine applications and the preparation of the Saran factory for the development and introduction of interim Tier 4/Stage 3B certified engines. To achieve these objectives, John Deere Management announced an investment of more than €50 million and plans to expand the workforce in early 2008.
